What is an Exotic Car?

Exotic cars are hard to define, because each

exotic car enthusiast is going to have a slightly different definition. In general, exotic cars are extremely fast, high performance cars, usually sports cars, that are hard to find and highly valuable. Most exotic cars can reach well over 140 miles per hour and have a low vehicle mass paired with a powerful engine.

Often these cars are used for racing because they have extremely high acceleration rates. Some enthusiasts will say that a car must have been made outside of the owner’s country to be classified as an exotic car.

What makes exotic cars truly valuable to collectors and car enthusiasts, however, is their rarity. If a car was mass-produced for the general public, it will not qualify as an exotic car. Because they are so rare and powerful, these cars are extremely valuable. Exotic cars almost always have six-figure price tags. Any Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, some Porsche models and even Ford GT's are generally accepted by all enthusiasts as examples of exotic cars. Today, new exotic cars are often called “supercars” by the media due to their super speed and handling.
