What Are Bedbugs?

Answer:
Recently, it seemed as though you couldn’t turn

on the news or pick up a newspaper without reading about bedbug infestations in even the best parts of New York City and other American cities. We are going to take a look at what these creatures are.

Bedbugs are one of the species of parasites. These creatures are very small, wingless, and they feed on blood. They are difficult to see since they are less than a quarter of an inch long and will usually hide during the day. There feeding source of preference is humans, but they will also feed on other mammals if they need to. They received their name because most of the time they will be found in bedding, but they can be found in other areas as well, such as carpeting and chairs.

Once there is an outbreak, they spread easily because they can be found in people’s luggage. Also, once they are visible, this is often a sign that there is a major infestation in the area. They usually will leave tiny itchy bites in a row on the skin. Good sanitation and frequent cleaning is really the only way to try to avoid an infestation.
