What Is Arthroscopy?

Answer:
Arthroscopy is also known as arthroscopic surgery,

and it is a minimally invasive procedure. During the procedure, an examination and even the treatment of damage in the interior of the joint is performed using an arthroscope.

An arthroscope is a type of endoscope that is inserted into the joint through a small incision. The procedures that are performed using this procedure include many orthopedic conditions such as torn floating cartilage, torn surface cartilage, ACL reconstruction, and trimming damaged cartilage.

The big advantage to this procedure over standard surgery is that the joint does not have to be fully opened up. This will reduce the recovery time and reduce the chances of infection. It also increases the chance of a successful surgery due to less trauma to the connective tissue. In arthroscopic surgery, only two small incisions are made, one for the arthroscope and one for the surgical instruments that are to be used. Professional athletes often undergo this procedure on damaged joints in order to be able to return to the game faster. The surgical instruments that are used in these procedures are much smaller than those that are used in traditional surgery. The surgeons view the joint on a video monitor, which they then use to guide their instruments during the procedure.
